Throwing an effortless Birthday Party for your Prince or Princess
Throwing an effortless Birthday Party for your Prince or Princess
Who hasn’t been to a Birthday Party that was so great it seemed to take no effort? We all have, and the truth is, you can throw a Birthday Party like that very easily, it just takes a little imagination. No matter how old your child is, throwing a birthday party for him or her should be fun for everyone.
So, how do you throw a stress free birthday party? First, a theme is always a good idea, but if you don’t have a theme, don’t despair, you can still throw a stress free party! The first thing to think about is the location. If it is during the time of year when the weather is great, choose the backyard or a park. If the weather is not good during that time of year, then have it in your house or at a restaurant that has a play center. Think about how many kids you are going to have, and then get the invitations.
Invitations can be made or store bought. For your basic party, choose bright colors so the invites are festive. Flowers and balloons are great for a girl and balloons and gifts are great for a boy. To include your child in the invitation process, ask them to draw a picture in color. Take that picture, add the wording and all the particulars, make color copies, and you have an excellent invitation made by the Birthday boy or girl!
Decorations can be pretty basic as well. You can purchase a helium tank for very little and fill up balloons tied with string. Crepe paper hanging off the trees adds a festive touch, and a piñata is a great way to add some color! Pick out a bright tablecloth, and if your child made the invite, then have that image blown up and copied onto a large white paper tablecloth. Plates, forks, napkins and cups and you are done with the decorations.
Party games are a fun way to fill the day. Pin the tail on the donkey, sack races and wheelbarrow races, piñatas, dunking for apples and of course a craft that each child can take home. If you have a teenager, ask them to set up a face painting station for the kids. Have your husband dress like your child’s favorite superhero or a clown. Don’t forget the snacks. Chex mix, pretzels, goldfish and M&M’s scattered around in bowls within easy reach. Cut up some fruit or have orange segments for the kids to munch on as they play and wander. If it’s lunch, order a pizza!
To make it easier on you, the craft can be the party favor, just add a lollipop with a tag attached that has the Birthday boy or girls name. If you decide to go the traditional party favor route, go to your local party store and buy some cute bags, bubbles, whistles, silly straws and a couple of Hershey Kisses. The favor bags should not be gender specific if you are having boys and girls at the party.
And the final piece to your fabulous Birthday party…the cake. Store bought or homemade, either way is great. There are tons of recipes and easy designs that you can find on the Internet if you want to make it yourself. If you buy it, put your child’s favorite thing on it, or even better, most stores can now take a picture of your child and scan it on the cake. That is a great way to make the Birthday kid feel really special. Light the candles; make a wish and like magic…a fabulous birthday party that was easy and fun for all!
