I AM THE PRINCESS
BRIDAL SHOWER
So,
in just a few weeks you will be the hostess for a bridal shower for
your daughter, sister, or best friend who will be marrying her Prince
Charming! That day will be special and she will feel like a true
“Princess”. And, why shouldn’t she!
In
order to give the royal event the proper tone, why not consider planning
a bridal party with a Princess theme? What could be more fun for a bride-to-be
than to be the princess reigning over her subjects! This would
be a welcome change from the ordinary, run-of-the-mill bridal party.
Just think of all the possibilities!
Royal Invitations – Be sure to select a “royalty,” “crown,”
or some other princess-themed invitation. To view invitations
fit for a princess, go to Princess
Invitations. These
invitations should be mailed out three to four weeks before the event
to allow guests to arrange their schedules. Make sure that you request
an r.s.v.p. and to include your r.s.v.p. date and phone number.
Princess Cake – The cake should continue the princes theme.
It could be shaped and/or decorated like a crown or with a tiara on
top. Or, to add something special to the theme, you might have
several Barbie doll cakes ready for icing and decorating and have groups
of three to four guests work on completing the cakes. This would
allow each group to chat informally and form a bond while decorating
their very own Princess cake. (Don’t forget to provide the dolls!)
To view how to bake a Princess cake, go to YouTube and type “Princess Cake” into the search
engine. Other Princess-themed cakes can be found at Cinderella Cakes, Family
Fun Princess Doll Cake,
and Family
Fun Princess Cakes.
Food –
With this you can do just about anything, just be sure to display the
food on large silver or glass serving plates or bowls that might be
found in a castle’s own kitchen. Anything shiny should suffice.
Be sure to use a large silver punch bowl for the punch. (Using
long-stemmed goblets for the punch would add to the theme!) Some
food suggestions might include fancy finger sandwiches (remember to
cut off the crusts!) and chocolate fondue served with fruit for dipping.
You might try to think of a fun way to incorporate apples into the menu.
After all, Snow White couldn’t resist a juicy red apple!
Fairy Godmothers – It might be nice to have two or three
fairy godmothers present. (They do always come in handy for a
princess!) Your Fairy Godmothers should be dressed for the part,
equipped with wands and fairy godmother appropriate behavior.
If the Princess has grandmothers who have a good sense of humor, it
might be a real kick to have them take on this responsibility.
You should have assigned tasks for them, such as escorting the groom
from another room (More on this later!).
Attire – The Princess, of course, should be dressed
like the princess of her choice or one she makes up all on her own.
Likewise, the princess’s mother, i.e. the Queen, should be dressed
in queenly attire and wearing a crown. The attendees should be
dressed like princesses, royal attendants, or like palace servants.
Be sure you mention this on your invitations! You might provide
the Queen with a crown and each princess with her own tiara as she enters
the castle! To view some beautiful crowns and tiaras, go to Tiaras & Crowns.
Gifts
– It would be nice if guests used play jewelry in addition to ribbon
to decorate gifts. This will give an extra added dimension to
the traditional rehearsal dinner paper plate “bouquet” made from
the ribbons of the gifts. Again, be sure to include this on your
invitation!
Activities - Games should be chosen with the Princess
theme in mind and should be those suitable for a princess. I have
shared with people several ideas that have always turned out to be really
fun! For instance, at the end of the party, have a lot of too
big or too small shoes available for the princess to try on one-by-one.
(Be sure they will truly be too big or too small! And, adding
comical shoes to the mix would be fun, such as a clown’s shoe and
a little girl’s dress-up princess shoe!) Have Prince Charming
waiting in another room and, at the appropriate time and escorted by
the fairy godmothers, have him come out with the shoe that will fit
(on a royal pillow, of course!)! (Cinderella did have a shoe fetish
after all!) If the groom is willing, have him dress like a prince!
What great pictures for the wedding album! Be sure to get plenty
of pictures of the bride’s expression when Prince Charming comes in
the room with the shoe and of the two of them as he puts the shoe
on her foot!) The royal finale could be playing “Someday My
Prince Will Come” while the Princess and her Prince Charming dance.
Again, pictures are a MUST! What a surprise for the Princess!
I hope the
Princess in your life has a truly “charmed” party
and that she
and her prince will live
HAPPILY EVER
AFTER!
The End.
